Jos Luhukay is expected to make several changes for Thursday evening’s Carabao Cup first round tie at Sunderland.
The Owls boss has already confirmed that Joe Wildsmith will be in goal and, with the league game at Brentford less than 72 hours later, he will no doubt be making more use of his squad for the trip to the Stadium of Light.
Liam Palmer and Joost van Aken, both dropped for last weekend’s home game with Hull, could be back in defence while the experienced trio of Dave Jones, George Boyd and Marco Matias may well be in the starting line-up, along with youngsters such as Alex Hunt, Jack Lee and Fraser Preston.
Lucas Joao (groin) and Morgan Fox (back) are both ruled out but Atdhe Nuhiu will be available again after missing the Hull game through suspension.
