Slump continues against Millers

Wednesday’s faltering push for a play-off place continued with defeat against Rotherham signalling a fourth successive Championship game without a win.

We paid for yet another poor first-half display at Hillsborough, sloppy defending allowing Matt Derbyshire to net the only goal on 21 minutes.

Michael Turner looked to have grabbed an equaliser before the break but was ruled offside after the referee initially awarded a goal – and TV replays appeared to show Turner was onside.

The second-half saw Wednesday dominating, Ross Wallace going closest when his shot from the edge of the box came back off the bar, but it was not to be as we slipped to a first league defeat at Hillsborough since August.

We remain in the final play-off place on goal difference from Cardiff, followed by Birmingham and Ipswich who are both a point behind but with a game in hand.
