Sellout Hillsborough set for second leg showdown

Wednesday know they will face Wycombe Wanderers in the League One play-off final if we can overcome Sunderland in our semi-final second leg at a sellout Hillsborough tomorrow night.

Wycombe ran out 2-1 aggregate winners over MK Dons this evening and we now need to overturn a 1-0 deficit from Friday’s first leg in Sunderland to set up a Wembley clash with Gareth Ainsworth’s side

Manager Darren Moore has already called on  our supporters, with Wednesday having more than 31,000 of the capacity 33,000-plus crowd, to play their part in driving the team on to a place in the final.

Looking ahead to the Hillsborough clash, Moore said after Friday’s narrow loss: “Sunderland’s fans were loud tonight, really loud, so what do I want from our fans on Monday?

“To be louder, simple as that. I could hear our supporters tonight high up in the stands and that was against 40-odd thousand Sunderland fans, so what could it be like at Hillsborough?

“They have to be our 12th man, get right behind the boys and sing your hearts out because the players appreciate it and thrive on it.”

Moore is likely to name the same 18-man squad from the first leg, with Jack Hunt and Josh Windass possibly stepping into the starting line-up.
