Sam Hutchinson will miss the Owls home clash with Sunderland at Hillsborough on Wednesday evening, skipper Glenn Loovens faces a late fitness test and we wait to see if Fernando Forestieri returns to the squad.
Forestieri was left out on Saturday following the alleged training altercation with Sam Winnall and, while Carlos Carvalhal said on Tuesday that Forestieri has continued to take part in training, he would not say if the player will be part of the sqUad against Sunderland.
Hutchinson limped off early in Saturday’s 1-1 draw against QPR with a knee injury and, although the problem is not as serious as first feared, the midfielder is ruled out, with David Jones his likely replacement.
Loovens also had to be substituted in the first-half against QPR, after taking a heavy kick in the back, and Carvalhal will wait until the day of the game before making a decision on his fitness.
Similarly, the head coach will check on Steven Fletcher as he is troubled by a knee injury.
