Sam ready to ‘play it again’ after lay-off

Sam Hutchinson says he is ready to return to the Wednesday midfield for Saturday’s lunchtime South Yorkshire showdown with Barnsley at Oakwell.

Hutchinson limped off during the 5-1 win over Norwich at the start of March and the Owls have taken just one point from the three games played since then.

The influential Hutchinson scored in the home game with Barnsley, Wednesday winning 2-0, and looking ahead to Saturday’s return game, Hutchinson said: “Yes I’m good, I just have to manage the injury.

“Hopefully I can play in all of the games we have left, the manager knows me and knows I want to play.”
Ross Wallace should also be fit to start after missing the home defeat to Reading and we wait to see whether long-term injury casualty Gary Hooper is ready to return after four months on the sidelines, along with Fernando Forestieri who has missed the last two games with a knee problem.
We go into the game still in the last play-off place, one point ahead of Fulham and five clear of Norwich and Preston, with Derby trailing us by six points after their Friday night win over QPR.
Looking upwards, we are five points behind fifth-placed Reading, trail Leeds by seven points and have a nine-point gap to third-placed Huddersfield, who also have a game in hand.
On Saturday, Fulham are at Rotherham, Norwich travel to Villa and Preston entertain Forest.
Above us in the play-off places, Reading host Leeds in the early evening game and Huddersfield are at home to Burton.
