Reda saves day as Owls grab draw in Championship opener

If Dave Jones was in any doubt about the ups and downs of being connected with Sheffield Wednesday then the contrasting emotions of Saturday’s battling 2-2 draw at Derby said it all.

Poor defendng saw us two down in less than half an hour – without the home side looking anything more than average – but a brilliant 20-yard strike from Chris O’Grady gave some hope to the 6,000 Wednesdayites before the break.

The second 45 saw Wednesday dominate proceedings, Gary Madine and O’Grady both seeing efforts ruled out, before Reda Johnson headed a late, late equaliser in front of the Wednesday hordes to earn a deserved point in our return to the Championship.

And O’Grady almost snatched a winner with home ‘keeper Frank Fielding pulling off an excellent save at the death.
