Red card for scorer Coke as Owls earn a point

Millwall

Both sides finished with 10 men as Wednesday left South London with a point from a fiery 1-1 draw with Millwall tonight.

After early Millwall pressure, the unmarked Atdhe Nuhui missed a glorious chance to put the Owls in front in the first half when he headed over the bar from six yards.

However, the game really burst into life in the second half with Giles Coke rounding Stephen Bywater in the Millwall goal to make it 1-0 on 68 minutes and then Miguel Llera headed against the bar soon afterwards.

Millwall and their fans were incensed when they felt they should have had a penalty but they levelled soon afterwards through DJ Campbell on 79 minutes.

Amidst a hostile atmosphere, Coke and the home side’s Shane Lowry were both red carded after a clash which resulted in a mass brawl amongst several players and yellow cards for Nuhiu and Bywater.

Jeremy Helan then almost grabbed a winner for the Owls, only to see his shot blocked by Nuhiu, and we survived nine minutes of added time to take home a valuable point.
