Matt Penney has joined Bundesliga 2 side St. Pauli on loan until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old defender made a big impression at S6 when he established himself in the first team for a period in the early part of last season but then suffered a lengthy lay-off after sustaining a dislocated shoulder.
With Wednesday having recruited strongly in defenders in recent months, Penney’s chances of earning a place back in the first team are likely to be restricted in the short term and now comes the opportunity to hopefully get similar experience, with St. Pauli in Germany.
