Paterson in Euro play-off action

Callum Paterson was an extra time sub for Scotland in their Euro 2020 semi final play-off victory over Israel at Hampden Park this evening.

Paterson came on for the final 30 minutes as the Scots drew 0-0, before clinching a play-off final place against Serbia when they won the ensuing penalty shootout 5-3.

The Wednesday striker wasn’t called upon to take a spot kick but will now be hoping for a place in the squad against Serbia on November 12 – along with clubmate Liam Palmer who was ruled out of the Israel game with a back injury – to see if Scotland can make next year’s Euro finals.

Paterson will also look to be in action in the coming days when Scotland have two Nations League home games, against Slovakia on Sunday and then versus the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
