Owls wait on injured pair for Rovers trip

Wednesday hope to have Barry Bannan and Daniel Pudil fit to face Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Tuesday evening.

Bannan limped off late in the 2-1 win over Forest on Saturday after suffering a foot injury while Pudil failed to recover in time for the game following tests on his thigh problem.

Carlos Carvalhal said today they would wait until the day of the game before making a final decision on the pair but that he has “good expectations”.

Tom Lees, who was also substituted in the second half on Saturday after feeling the effects of a recent fever, has been cleared to face Blackburn as the Owls look for our first away win of the season.

Midfielder David Jones is back in training after his knee injury and could come into consideration for the Rovers clash but Lucas Joao has suffered a setback in his recuperation from a groin problem and looks unlikely to make the squad.

Meanwhile, Joe Wildsmith is expected to be ruled out for a few weeks after damaging a finger in training.
