Owls wait for go-ahead over Loovens deal

Blackpool

Wednesday are waiting for international clearance before considering a starting place for Glenn Loovens at Blackpool tomorrow.

The former Celtic central defender has agreed to join the Owls on a short-term deal but we need the nod from the Spanish FA before Loovens can make his debut.

Loovens, 30, has been training with us recently after leaving Real Zaragoza in the summer and Dave Jones has now offered the Dutch international a deal.

He is the latest in a line of ex-Cardiff players to link up again with former boss Jones. Loovens made 100 appearances for the Welsh club, playing alongside Wednesday loanee Roger Johnson during a spell which saw Cardiff reach the FA Cup final in 2008
