Owls show finishing touch in four-goal victory

Wednesday produced some clinical finishing to defeat CD Nacional in their pre-season friendly in Portugal this evening.

Fernando Forestieri broke clear to finish well from Lucas Joao’s through ball just before half-time – his third goal in the warm-ups – and we then struck three times in the second half to secure an impressive victory.

Sub Gary Hooper tapped home on 67 minutes and produced a clever chip over the keeper five minutes later to make it 3-0.

Fellow sub Steven Fletcher completed the scoring in the dying minutes when he ran onto Hooper’s excellent pass and rounded the keeper before slotting home his first goal for the club.

Nacional posed few attacking threats on a poor playing surface.

Westwood, Hunt (Vermijl 15), Lees, Hutchinson (Semedo 15), Palmer (Helan 71), Bannan, Lee (Melo 71), Wallace, Joao (Fletcher 63), Matias (Stubbs 75) Forestieri (Hooper 63).
