Nuhiu header clinches victory for Owls

Atdhe Nuhiu’s 77th minute header gave Wednesday all three points at Wigan tonight … making it two wins over Christmas and lifting the Owls to 10th place in the Championship.

It was Nuhiu’s first goal for three months and came 10 minutes after Wigan were reduced to 10 men when substitute Callum McManaman was red carded for a bad challenge on Claude Dielna.

It was a game of few clear chances at either end and, although we had a narrow escape when Ivan Kamis’ header hit the post six minutes from time, the home side failed to muster any shots on target in the entire 90 minutes.

Victory also means Wednesday are now six points off the play-off positions.
