Nuhiu at double as Owls hit four

Four second-half goals saw Wednesday sweep to victory against play-off chasing Preston at Hillsborough.

With only Atdhe Nuhiu playing up front in the first-half, we hardly mustered an opening while Preston looked dangerous in front of goal.

However, the introduction of Lucas Joao to partner Nuhiu at the interval proved the turning point and we were two-up within a few minutes of the restart, Nuhiu scoring from close range and then Joao heading home from an excellent Barry Bannan through ball two minutes later.

Preston pulled a goal back through Louis Moult on 72 minutes but Wednesday were not to be denied, Nuhiu curling home a spectacular effort from the edge of the box in added time and then substitute Fernando Forestieri crowned a tremendous 45 minutes with a 20-yard free kick almost on the final whistle.

Victory leaves us in 17th place on 44 points, 11 ahead of the relegation places after the 3pm kick offs.
