New boy Johnson injured ahead of Birmingham trip

New loan signing Roger Johnson picked up a shoulder injury in training today as the Owls prepare for Saturday’s trip to Birmingham.

Johnson, who left the Blues for Wolves in a £4m deal two years ago, had been in contention for a starting place against his old club after being reunited with former boss Dave Jones, the pair having been together at Cardiff.

However, the central defender who is on a three-month loan at S6, will now be assessed following today’s injury setback.

Earlier this week, Johnson said: “I had great times with the manager at Cardiff and he has put his faith in me again and I won’t be letting him down.

“I’m looking to come here and play games. There are 17 games that I am here for throughout the loan period and I’m just looking to do as well as I can for the club and get myself back playing.

“I’ll be pulling and pushing a few people around. The gaffer has asked me to come in with my experience and make my voice heard on the pitch and that’s what I’ll be doing.”
