Moore’s half-time ‘blast’ does the trick

Darren Moore was pleased to see his team respond to some harsh half-time words in a second-half 3-2 comeback win at Fleetwood tonight.

Having seen us dominate the first half but gift the home side two goals, Moore said he was angrier than he’s ever been with the squad at the interval, saying: “There were a few harsh words said at half-time, which I think were needed, and the group responded in the right manner.

”I know that Lee Gregory will get all the plaudits after his hat-trick, and rightly so, because I thought they were three excellent finishes. He was sharp tonight.

“Credit to him and also all the team for getting back into the game.

“I thought we dominated the game from start to finish. We gave away two stupid, silly goals that put us on the back foot and made the game a closer fought contest than it should have been.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s final league game at home to Portsmouth and in the knowledge that a win will secure a play-off place, Moore added: “We still have a massive test ahead of us on Saturday. Portsmouth have had a great result tonight. They are a team that are capable and will come to enjoy the day.

“We have got to make sure we apply ourselves right and it will be another big test for us at Hillsborough.”
