Moore hopeful of Windass return for Plymouth clash

Josh Windass could return to the Wednesday squad when we take on Plymouth tomorrow in our first league game at Hillsborough for seven weeks.

The striker has been missing through injury after coming on as a late sub at Crewe in mid-December but manager Darren Moore is hoping Windass will be fit for consideration for the game against seventh-placed Plymouth.

Midfielder Massimo Luongo is back in contention for a starting place after his three-match ban while Jack Hunt could also be ready to return from injury.

Florian Kamberi will be assessed before kick off but Moore confirmed today that central defender Chey Dunkley may be sidelined for a few weeks with the muscle problem that forced him off at Sunderland just after Christmas and Mide Shodipo is also a definite non-starter through injury.

We go into the game six points off the play-off places and needing to bounce back from two successive defeats to keep ourselves in touch with the top six.

Wednesday will also be seeking revenge after losing 3-0 in the league at Plymouth early in the season and then being knocked out of the FA Cup by the Pilgrims in a 3-0 first round replay defeatĀ  after a goalless draw in the first tie at Hillsborough.
