Milan backs Gray and looks to loan signings

Milan Mandaric has given his continued support to Stuart Gray and hopes the head coach can secure loan signings in the coming weeks to lift the spirits at S6.

Wednesday are edging dangerously towards the relegation zone after just one win in the last 10 Championship matches and with the team managing only three goals in nine league games at Hillsborough this season – including none in the last four at S6.

Mandaric said this week: “Stuart will get 100 per cent of my support. The team is playing well. We have had a few games where we have had penalty shouts which have not gone our way. We just need a little bit of luck.”

The chairman also confirmed that Wednesday are looking for a loanee midfielder and striker to bolster the squad, saying: “We have, so far, not been successful. We have been turned down a couple of times but we are still looking to strengthen the team. I still have hope that we will be able to do something before January.

“We are looking in the Championship and Premier League. There is no point in bringing players in unless they can improve us.”

Forest striker Dexter Blackstock is the latest player to be linked with Wednesday as Gray looks to bring in some much-needed firepower.
