May linked with loan move back to Scotland

Stevie May is being linked with a possible season-long loan move to Aberdeen.

The Aberdeen Evening Express says the Dons have opened talks with Wednesday about the striker spending next season at Pittodrie and, if it goes ahead, then it would mean a reunion with boss Derek McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty, who gave May his debut at St Johnstone as a 16-year-old.

May joined us from St Johnstone in an £800,000 deal in August and scored seven goals in 39 games. He failed to make the impact hoped for in his first season at S6, losing his regular place in the starting line-up and his confidence draining as Wednesday – and May himself- struggled for goals and consistent form, particularly at Hillsborough.

It’s fair to say that the fans’ jury is well and truly out over whether May will come good in a Wednesday shirt and a move back north of the border, albeit possibly on a loan basis, could provide the player with the opportunity to rediscover his confidence and goalscoring form.
