Loan signing eyes place in squad for Oxford clash

New loan signing Jordan Storey is expected to be in the Wednesday squad for tomorrow’s trip to Oxford United.

With Wednesday in eighth and Oxford one place and three points ahead of us, the game represents the opportunity to draw level with Karl Robinson’s team, gain revenge for a 2-1 defeat to them at Hillsborough in October and to build on the feelgood factor from last Saturday’s 4-2 win over sixth-placed Plymouth.

Storey could get a starting place while Josh Windass may also be selected ‘from the off’ after returning from injury and making a goalscoring impact when he came on as a sub 10 minutes from time against Plymouth.

In addition, Moore today dismissed reports that Nathaniel Mendez-Laing’s S6 deal had run out, saying: “When we took him in here, he was training for three to four weeks before we signed him. We have seen that improvement.

“We got it all done and dusted then. It has always been a deal in place and we move on.”

On the injury front, Florian Kamberi is nearest to a return but is at least a week away from competitive action while Chey Dunkley and Mide Shodipo are longer-term absentees.
