Llera own goal is tough on Wednesday

Wednesday could count themselves unfortunate not to return home with at least a draw from promotion-chasing Forest on Saturday.

We posed far more of an attacking threat compared to last week’s defeat at Middlesbrough and the points might easily have gone the other way, victory going to Forest after Miguel Llera headed into his own net 15 minutes from time.

Wednesday, backed by 4,300 fans on ‘Jose Semedo Day’, began in excellent fashion and both Gary Madine and Jay Bothroyd brought early saves from Lee Camp, while Chris Kirkland thwarted Andy Reid at the other end.

Nejc Pecnick missed a great chance to put us ahead shortly before the break but fired over and we began the second half in lively fashion again. Bothroyd saw a close range effort cleared off the line and Jermaine Johnson, on for Pecnik, shot wide from another clear opening during a further period of good pressure from the Owls.

However, we paid for the lack of a cutting edge when Llera was unlucky to steer a cross past Kirkland and so see Wednesday slip back to fourth from bottom.
