‘Let’s use our home advantage’

Garry Monk is looking forward to the challenge of taking on Premier League Everton in the Carabao Cup at Hillsborough tonight.

After seeing Wednesday take four points from his first two games in charge, Monk said of the third round tie: “In a sense it’s a free hit but we want to win and it’s as simple as that.

“We’re at home and we have to use that to our advantage.”

He added: “If we can show what we did in the second half on Saturday then we’ll fancy ourselves to have a good chance but it’s going to be very difficult.”

Tom Lees is not expected to be ready to return from his hamstring injury but Monk is likely to make some changes, with the Owls then facing three Championship games in a week, starting at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Cameron Dawson could replace Keiren Westwood in goal while Monk may also give starts to Morgan Fox, Massimo Luongo, Sam Winnall, Atdhe Nuhiu and David Bates.
