Lees: Why I’ve pledged future to club

Tom Lees has ended speculation linking him with a move away from Hillsborough by signing a five-year contract with Wednesday.

Recent reports also talked of Lees being offered a new £25,000-a-week deal at S6 and this evening the club confirmed that the central defender has signed to stay with the Owls until the summer of 2021.

He said afterwards that it was the ambitions of chairman Dejphon Chansiri that convinced him his future lies with Wednesday, telling swfc.co.uk:  “I’m really happy here and, like any player, I want to play in the Premier League.

“I am convinced we can achieve these ambitions together.”
