Jones salutes Hillsborough comeback

Derby County

Dave Jones praised his team’s battling qualities after seeing us fight back from two goals down to earn a point against Derby.

The Owls boss said: “It was a great comeback and I’m really pleased because Derby are a very good side and well established in the Championship.

“We could have won the game and I’m disappointed that we didn’t. Sometimes, though, you don’t get everything your own way and we have to be satisfied with the point because at one stage it didn’t look like we were going to take anything.”

The introduction of Connor Wickham in the first-half gave us extra presence up front and Jones said: “It was purely tactical. I just felt we weren’t getting round the back of them enough. It gave Michail the chance to get out wide and he loves playing there.

“Connot did really well when he came on. He showed some nice touches and gave us more of a focal point.”
