Jones criticises ref after cup exit

Dave Jones had harsh words for the referee and for our lack of punch after the FA Cup exit at MK Dons.

Jones said he felt referee Lee Collins allowed Dons’ ex-Leeds man, Alan Smith, to run the game and added: “I just thought it was too big a game for the ref. He lost it somewhere along the line and that can happen. He’s had a bad day at the office.”

Referring to our lack of firepower, Jones said: “we didn’t seem to want to shoot and that’s not like us. We had more than a few chances to get the ball into the box but ended up almost passing back to the goalkeeper.”

He added: “The side we put out was good enough to win the game. And I really felt for the fans behind the goal who came all the way down here.”

Defeat means we now travel to Charlton for a league game on January 26 – FA Cup fourth round day.
