Hooper recovering from groin operation

Gary Hooper has had an operation on a groin problem after his latest injury setback.

Jos Luhukay confirmed recently that Hooper would not be fit to return to action until the New Year and reports are indicating that the striker is now likely to be ruled out for 10 weeks.

Hooper posted news of the surgery on his Instagram account on Thursday, saying ‘Operation went well’.

His last first team appearance was in the Boxing Day win at Forest and he was then ruled out for the rest of the season with a hip problem. He suffered another injury in a comeback game for the under-23s in September and now comes news of the groin operation.

Hooper is 31 in January, with his current contract running out at the end of the season, and it would appear highly unlikely that the striker will be offered a new deal at S6.
