Gray salutes win but calls for killer instinct

Stuart Gray was pleased with the three points at Wigan but added: “The only thing I would say that was disappointing was the fact that we got the one goal but didn’t put the game to bed.

“Every team in this division has players who can hurt you and Wigan nearly did that right at the last.”

Looking at the Championship overall and with Wednesday only six points away from a play-off spot, Gray said: “Not a lot of teams are showing any real consistency and the places are there for someone who can do so. That’s back to back wins for us now and I’ve said to the players, always look up, never look down.”

Gray also confirmed that loanee Royston Drenthe had missed the game due to “personal reasons”.

However, despite reports that Drenthe could be off to play in China, Gray said he would not rule out the winger returning to S6, having made it clear that he would like to extend his loan spell at Hillsborough.
