Fletcher earns first league win of season

Stephen Fletcher’s second-half strike saw Wednesday chalk up a first Championship win of the season at Fulham,

He swept the ball home from 10 yards after an excellent pull back from Adam Reach on 63 minutes and that was enough to secure the three points to take us up to 13th place in the table.

While the home side created their share of openings, we restricted them to two efforts on target and goalscorer Fletcher could count himself unlucky not to score again in the second half.

Before his goal, the striker found the net but was ruled offside and he then saw home keeper David Button keep out another close-range effort withe the score at 1-0.

Carlos Carvalhal said: “I am calm, completely calm, because I knew we would start to win games.

“We played well against Queens Park Rangers, we played well against Sunderland and we played well today against Fulham, one of the strongest sides of the competition.

“The big difference here is the win. In my opinion we should have won already this season but we did not and that is the reality.”
