Defender headache for Gray ahead of Reading clash

Wednesday have defensive problems ahead of Saturday’s trip to play-off hopefuls Reading.

Oguchi Onyewu, who limped out of last Saturday’s win over Barnsley in the closing minutes, looks set to be out for a lengthy spell with a torn calf muscle while central defensive partner Glenn Loovens is still doubtful after being sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Reda Johnson will not be fit after mising recent games with a groin injury while of the long-term defensive absentees, Kamil Zayatte is expected to miss the rest of the season as he prepares for surgery while Lewis Buxton is still not ready to return and faces at least another fortnight out.

This leaves Stuart Gray with only Miguel Llera as a recognised centre back and Gray says he will be looking to strengthen the defensive options when the emergency loan window reopens on Friday.
