New loan signing Aiden McGeady will bring added quality to Wednesday as we continue our Championship promotion challenge, says Carlos Carvalhal.
The head coach said he tried to buy the winger when McGeady was playing for Celtic and he was in charge at Sporting Lisbon and added: “I am very happy with the signing. He is a player that has extra quality … he can play on the left or right wing, or behind the striker.”
McGeady will also be hoping that regular first-team football with Wednesday will help seal his place in the Republic of Ireland squad for this summer’s European Championships and Carvalhal said: “He has a big personal challenge to get into the Euros squad with his national team. To us, this sort of player is important because they are hungry to play.”
