Can Jones survive after another defeat?

Dave Jones’ future as Wednesday boss is surely hanging in the balance after a crushing 4-1 home defeat by Watford which leaves us one place off the bottom of the Championship table.

Michail Antonio gave us just the start we needed with a third minute opener but Watford were level 15 minutes later through Forestieri and the visitors romped to victory after the break with goals from Geijo (67), Deney (75) and Yeates (83) as Wednesday fell apart.

Chris Lines had missed a great chance to put us 2-1 up before the break but saw his penalty kick saved and the Owls paid for some poor defending as we chalked up a fifth successive league defeat.

The latest setback, which leaves us firmly rooted in the bottom three, comes just 24 hours after Milan Mandaric asked for the fans to back the team and supported Dave Jones.

However, the nature of this latest reverse – coming on the back of a punchless display last Saturday – must surely have the chairman further questioning whether Jones is the man to turn around our fortunes and keep us in the Championship.
