Wednesday wait for the results of tests on Achraf Lazaar after the loanee defender was helped from the field with a hamstring injury against Brentford on Tuesday evening.
Lazaar had continued where he left off, after an excellent full debut against Swansea on Saturday when he stepped in for the injured Morgan Fox, before pulling up with the hamstring problem on 36 minutes and being replaced by Dominic Iorfa.
Steve Bruce said afterwards: “That’s the real negative for me tonight and I feel for the lad. He’s been beaming since Saturday when he had such a terrific debut.
“He hasn’t played much football so the question was could he play two games in a few days.
“I think with hindsight I might have played it differently but Foxy wasn’t quite right.
“It looks like a bad one but we will know more once we’ve had him assessed.”
