Batth-time for Wednesday as Danny extends stay at S6

Danny Batth is to stay at Hillsborough until the end of the season.

The young central defender joined us on loan from Wolves towards the end of last season, rejoined on a half-season deal in the summer and has now extended the arrangement until the end of the campaign.

Batth has struck up a strong partnership with skipper Rob Jones in the heart of the defence and, with six loanees in the current squad, Gary Megson will be pleased to have secured Batth’s services for the remainder of the season.

The Owls boss is still interested in securing keeper Stephen Bywater on a permanent deal, the player having returned to Derby after Saturday’s final loan game against Huddersfield. And Megson will be keen to sort out the future of winger Ben Marshall, either sealing his transfer from Stoke or, more likely, in another extended loan deal.
