Back to league action against in-form Pompey

Wednesday return to league action when we clash with another of division one’s in-form sides at Portsmouth tomorrow evening.

We go into the game in eighth place, one point outside the play-offs and looking to stretch our unbeaten league run to 11 matches, while Pompey have won five of their last six division one fixtures and sit a point behind us.

Darren Moore will largely revert to the starting line-up from our last league outing, the 2-2 home draw with Wycombe, after giving some of the fringe players their chance to shine – but they didn’t – in the 3-0 Papa John’s Trophy defeat to Hartlepool.

Liam Palmer could also be ready to return after missing the Wycombe match through illness.

The game will be our first visit to Fratton Park since a 2-1 win there in April 2003 and the match will be live on Sky Sports.

* Meanwhile, Wednesday have signed young midfielder Jayden Onen after a trial period at S6.

The 20-year-old has been training with the under-23s this season, having spent last season with Reading where he made two appearances, after being released by Brentford in 2020.
