AN amazing afternoon – and early evening – saw the division one automatic promotion challenge swing firmly Wednesday’s way on Saturday.
Goals from Keith Treacy and Miguel Llera enabled us to take three rather fortunate points in a 2-1 win at Brentford, then it was back to the Lord Nelson pub for the London Owls to cheer on Stevenage as they held Sheff U to a 2-2 draw and so leave us a point clear of our rivals with just one game left.
Both matches were nail-biters with Wednesday hanging on at Griffin Park and then Sheff U coming back from two goals down to ensure another tense finish, before the final whistle sparked off mass celebrations in the pub.
Now Wednesday go into the last game against relegated Wycombe at a sellout Hillsborough next Saturday knowing that three points will seal our return to the Championship.
