All-clear for Luongo as Owls prepare for ‘derby’ clash

Massimo Luongo is fit to take his place in the Wednesday midfield for Sunday’s televised South Yorkshire derby clash with league leaders Rotherham at Hillsborough.

Luongo has recovered after suffering a cut head in the closing minutes of Tuesday night’s win over Wigan but none of our long list of injured players is ready to return.

This means Darren Moore can be expected to stick with the same squad of 18 from the victory against the Latics, although he could decide to start with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing after his appearance from the bench in midweek.

With the rest of the weekend’s division one fixtures being played tomorrow, we will go into Sunday’s match knowing whether three points – or even one – will be enough to take us into the top six as we look to make it five league wins out of five and without have conceded a goal during those last four successes.

Before tomorrow’s fixtures, visitors Rotherham sit nine points clear at the top of the division, having won their last five games and also with no goals against.

Former Owl Richard Wood is available for the Millers after serving a one-match ban, another Wednesday ‘old boy’ Joe Mattock could also be in their defence but striker Will Grigg is ruled out through injury.

The game is live on Sky Sports and kicks off at noon on Sunday.
