Wednesday decided not to appeal against Fernando Forestieri’s red card against Preston as they feared he might get an extended ban.
Forestieri received a three-match suspension following the off-the-ball incident that saw him dismissed last Saturday.
When asked if Wednesday had considered appealing the decision, Carlos Carvalhal said the club had been advised that if they did so, and lost the appeal, then Forestieri would miss a further match … so it was decided not to proceed with such action.
Referring to his comment after the Preston game that he was worried about Sheffield Wednesday in the future, Carvalhal explained that he believes Wednesday should be shown more respect in the game … respect that such a big and historic club deserves.
