We’ve played better and lost says Jones

Dave Jones confirmed what Wednesday fans in the 22,000 crowd knew after the 2-1 win over Peterborough … we’ve played better and lost this season.

He added: “It wasn’t one of our best performances but sometimes you need the scrappy wins and I will take it. The first half was really lacklustre but we raised the tempo after that. Like most teams, we are at our best when we play at a high tempo.

“But I don’t want to be negative about the performance because there were a lot of positives out there.

“The young lads in the middle of the park did really well and Jose Semedo was immense.”

Young midfielder Paul Corry limped off in the first half after injuring his ankle early on. Jones said his ankle had swollen up after an accidental clash and the club would take a look at the extent of the injury with Tuesday’s home clash with Blackpool in mind.
