Westwood to be assessed ahead of Watford clash

Darren Moore says Wednesday will wait on a fitness update on keeper Keiren Westwood ahead of tomorrow’s trip to face promotion-chasing Watford.

We go into the game six points from safety with only nine matches left and realistically will need in the region of six wins to give ourselves a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

Keeper Westwood has been back in training during the international break after having to pull out of the recent win at Barnsley with a rib injury sustained in the warm-up at Oakwell.

Manager Moore said this morning: “The pleasing thing is the injury has now healed.

“It’s just about getting confidence back in, things like making diving saves, coming for catches. He’s back out there but we’re just putting him through his paces.

“We’ve re-scanned the injury and it’s fine which is great news. So we’ll assess him today and see how he is for tomorrow.”

Sam Hutchinson has also been back in training following his hamstring problem while Liam Palmer will be assessed, having been on international duty with Scotland during the last fortnight and coming on as a late substitute in their 4-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Wednesday evening.

Watford sit in second place in the Championship, six points ahead of their nearest rivals.
