Westwood takes plaudits in goalless draw

Wednesday made it three games without a goal and six league matches since a victory in a 0-0 draw with Norwich at Hillsborough.

The Owls hardly created a goalscoring opportunity in the 90 minutes and we were indebted to a string of fine saves from Keiren Westwood to preserve a point.

Stevie May sent an early header narrowly wide but, that aside, Wednesday posed few threats in the opening 45 minutes while Westwood denied Lewis Grabban with an excellent stop.

After the break, May struck our only attempt on target – a long-range effort easily fielded by John Ruddy – and it was then left to Westwood to come to the rescue on three further occasions to ensure a point for the Owls.

Stuart Gray gave emergency loan signing Gary Taylor-Fletcher a runout in the second half but Wednesday continued the goalless sequence and made it just one victory in seven league games at Hillsborough this season.
