Westwood offered new deal … Hector latest

Keiren Westwood has been offered a new contract to stay at Wednesday.

Steve Bruce confirmed on Friday that he has presented a new deal to the player to try to keep him at Hillsborough and is awaiting a response from the keeper.

Bruce said that he has made his mind up over the futures of the other out-of-contract players, along with our loanees, and will be speaking with them in the coming days to let them know of his decisions.

He also confirmed that his number one priority in terms of those players is to try to keep Chelsea loanee Michael Hector, who has won many plaudits during the season for his defensive displays.

The Owls boss said: “If at all possible then we would like to keep Michael Hector. We have to try and agree a fee with Chelsea – that’s never easy.

“All being equal he would be the first one I would want to try to tie down, why shouldn’t I … he’s had a terrific season.”
