Westwood back in squad for Portugal games

Keiren Westwood is back with the Wednesday squad in Portugal preparing for three friendlies in the coming days.

Westwood was given extra time off from the start of pre-season training, after playing for the Republic of Ireland into June.

However, as we prepare for the first warm-up game of the Algarve trip – against Primeira Liga Portimonense on Wednesday evening (kick off 7pm) – Carlos Carvalhal confirmed that Westwood was back in training and ready for action during the trip.

Sam Hutchinson and Almen Abdi have also returned to training with the squad in Portugal and Carvalhal hopes that both Kieran Lee and Glenn Loovens will be involved later in the week after injuries.

Following the Portimonense game, we take on SC Farense on Thursday evening (kick off 8pm) and complete the trio of games against another Primeira Liga side, Vitoria Setubal, on Saturday (kick off 8pm).
