We’ll be ready for new season says Jos

Jos Luhukay is looking to Wednesday to build on our fine end to the campaign when the squad reports back for pre-season training in late June.

Speaking after a final day 5-1 win over Norwich at sun-drenched Hillsborough, Luhukay said: “We can go on holiday with a very good feeling and we can take a lot of confidence with us into the pre-season.”

He added: “We have six wins from nine games and this is very promising for next season. This is the kind of form we must show if we are to challenge.

“It will not be easy, of course, because all the teams in the Championship want the same thing.

“We will win games, we will lose games, this is the competition, but we will have good preparations and we will be ready.”

Reflecting on the Norwich victory, Luhukay said: “It’s fantastic when you have your last game of the season in your own stadium, with the support from our fans and we win 5-1.

“We had good moments in the first half, in the second half we created good chances to maybe score more goals but with five goals in your last game we can live with that.”

Luhukay, who gave special thanks to the fans, to all the staff and to his medical team during his time at the club, added: “I am proud of the players for that performance. I say there is always something to play for in football and we showed that today.

“We played with power and good movement and put our chances away.”
