Wednesday wait on Forestieri fitness

Wednesday are hoping Fernando Forestieri recovers from injury in time for Sunday’s trip to Brentford.

He suffered a groin problem during the 1-1 home draw with Hull and was not in the squad for Thursday’s Carabao Cup win at Sunderland.

Jos Luhukay said: “Fernando had problems after the game on Saturday. We must be careful now but I hope that he is an option for us at Brentford.”

Lucas Joao is a doubt after injuring a groin in training before the Hull match while Joost van Aken, who lost his place in defence following the opening day defeat at Wigan, returned at Sunderland but was forced off with an ankle problem.

Morgan Fox is another doubt after his back injury picked up against Hull.

Luhukay rested some of the squad for the Sunderland tie and he can be expected to bring back Cameron Dawson, Sam Hutchinson, Daniel Pudil, Ash Baker, Forestieri (if fit), Atdhe Nuhiu and Joey Pelupessy into the starting line-up, along with Jordan Thorniley, who impressed when replacing Fox last weekend.

We go into the game looking for a first win of the season against a Brentford side who have taken four points from their first two matches.
