Wednesday snap up winger Jones . . . Tavernier’s farewell . . .

Wednesday have signed Bury winger Mike Jones for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old joins us in a deal which keeps him at S6 until the summer of 2014 and he is likely to go straight into the squad for Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash with leaders Charlton at Hillsborough.

Former Bury team-mate Ryan Lowe said on Twitter: ‘What a signing for the Owls. MJ will gve us good quality down the wings. Buzzin’ to be reunited with him!’

James Tavernier has returned to Newcastle after his loan spell. He joined us as a right back but had been playing further forward in recent games and the Magpies would only agree to his stay being extended if he reverted to the defensive position.

Meanwhile, James O’Connor has completed his move from S6 to the US, sigining for Orlando City where he will link up with young ex-Owl Luke Boden.

* The trip to fellow promotion chasers MK Dons, postponed from January 28, will now be played on January 31.
