Wednesday slip to second successive defeat on the road

Wednesday suffered their second successive defeat with a comprehensive three-goal defeat at Brighton on Friday night.

We fell behind to a disputed and then deflected free kick from Wayne Bridge midway through the first half and two goals in the first 13 minutes after the interval – from Craig Mackail-Smith and Will Buckley – killed off any chance of a fightback.

Home keeper Tomasz Kuszczak made an excellent stop from loanee debutant Jay Bothroyd’s header but we didn’t look like getting back into the game after those two goals early in the second half.

* Everton youngster Ross Barkley came on as a late second-half sub after signing on a month’s loan.
