Wednesday ready to release midfielder Pecnik

Midfielder Nejc Pecnik will be allowed to leave Hillsborough after failing to establish himself at the club.

The Slovenian international was given a two-year contract after impressing while on trial last summer. However, he soon found himself down the first team pecking order and Dave Jones has confirmed his future is away from S6.

Jones said: “Nejc has been told we won’t be re-signing him. We’ve been trying to find him a club and he’s been trying to find a club himself.”

He is currently recovering from an injury and Jones added: “While he’s still here he is part of the squad and it is up to him to prove he is worthy of getting a shirt – as with all the players.”
