Wednesday looking to strengthen before Tuesday’s deadline

Wednesday will be looking to bring in one or two players before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Gary Megson confirmed after the draw at Blackpool that he hopes to strengthen the side in the next couple of days, saying: “We’re trying to bring in one or two new players but other clubs are also interested in them so it’s not that easy.

“However, the emergency loan window opens again after seven days and we will be looking to strengthen again then – whether we have brought anyone in before then or not.”

Charlton extended their lead at the top of division one to nine points with a win at Exeter while second-placed Huddersfield could only manage a point at Tranmere. That leaves them on 54 points, one ahead of us and Sheff U, but we both have one game in hand – that coming for the Owls at MK Dons on Tuesday evening.

* Wednesday will be selling 800 extra tickets for the derby game, these going on sale at S6 to personal callers only from 9am on Monday and applicants need to be on the club’s database.
