Wednesday land defender Lee as boss makes early swoop

Dave Jones has wasted no time in strengthening the Wednesday squad, landing Oldham right back Kieran Lee on a free transfer.

Lee, 23, is a former Manchester United youngster and collected four Player of the Year awards with the Latics at the end of the season.

His arrival signals an early intent from Jones to add depth and quality to the Owls squad and Lee will provide competition to Lewis Buxton for the right back berth next season.

* Wednesday finished top of the table for division one home attendances, the average crowd of 21,336 being well clear of other figures in the division.

It was also higher than the average of 17 Championship clubs and bettered three in the Premiership – with the final day of the season crowd of 38,082 being the highest outside of the top flight during the campaign, and also above the biggest attendance of the season for ten Premier League sides.
