Wednesday lack that finishing touch

Wednesday dominated Wolves at Hillsborough today but had to settle for a point in a goalless draw.

We created enough openings in both halves, while Wolves rarely threatened, but lacked that finishing touch.

Dave Jones, who said the stats showed we had 17 efforts on goal, added: “We did just about everything but score today while Chris Kirkland hardly had a shot to save at the other end.

“However, if you had said last week before the Hull game that we would take four points from our next two league games then we would have taken that.”

Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme did well to block Michail Antonio’s first-half effort and then made a scrambling on-the-line save from Miguel Llera’s header, with Wednesday appealing that the ball had crossed the line.

It was a similar story after the break, with the Owls totally dominant.

Jeremy Helan shot into the side-netting, Antonio just failed to convert from six yards and Helan’s dangerous cross flashed across goal to safety.

Wolves’ only real opening came four minutes from time when Kevin Doyle’s long-range effort was just too high.
